P600Norm EEG Data Collection Underway at MindLabs
We are excited to announce that data collection has started for our NWA-funded P600Norm project, “Normative Range of P600 Morphology as a Diagnostic and Prognostic Tool in Neuropsychiatric Disorders.”
The experiments take place in the soundproof cubicles of the Brain and Behavior Lab at MindLabs, using a specialized EEG recording setup. By integrating the BioSemi Active2.5 and Mentalab Explore Pro systems into a single EEG cap, we can simultaneously record brain activity using stationary and portable EEG devices. This allows us to directly compare their recording quality under identical experimental conditions.
During the experiment, participants read grammatically correct and incorrect sentences presented on a computer screen. These sentences are designed to elicit the P600, an event-related brain response associated with language processing. By examining differences in P600 responses, the project aims to establish normative ranges that could support future diagnostic and prognostic applications in neuropsychiatry.
Our experimental setup also attracted the attention of BRIX, a partnership of specialized IX labs working in immersive technologies, virtual reality, serious gaming, and related fields. The BRIX team recently visited the Brain and Behavior Lab to document the experiment in action, capturing the photographs featured below.
We are pleased to share this glimpse behind the scenes as we take another step towards translating EEG-based normative modelling into clinical applications.
