Machine Learning for Precision Neuropsychiatry ML4PNP

Welcome Kateryna Skurativska to ML4PNP!

We are very happy to welcome Kateryna Skurativska as a new PhD candidate in the Machine Learning for Precision Neuropsychiatry (ML4PNP) Lab at Tilburg University.

Kateryna joins us as a doctoral fellow in the European IndiBrain Doctoral Network, which aims to understand individual differences in brain plasticity and dynamics and use this knowledge to advance personalized neuroscience.

Her PhD project, “Predicting individual lifespan trajectories using biologically constrained generative models,” will investigate how machine learning can be used to reconstruct individual trajectories of brain development and ageing from cross-sectional neuroimaging data. A particular focus will be on developing biologically constrained generative models and applying them to functional brain organization in the human visual cortex.

Kateryna will work at the intersection of machine learning, generative modelling, neuroimaging, and precision neuropsychiatry, with the longer-term goal of better understanding healthy individual variation and changes associated with ocular and neurological damage.

The project is carried out within IndiBrain and in close collaboration and under the lead of Koen Haak, bringing together complementary expertise in machine learning, computational neuroimaging, visual neuroscience, and individual brain differences.

Before joining Tilburg University, Kateryna completed her Master’s degree in Data Science at the University of Padua, where she worked with neuroimaging data and machine learning to predict Autism Spectrum Disorder.
